Sharin my fav Dim Sum spot in SF with Booch and McDonald =o)

 

Drove up to SF had a great time, and brought back some good left overs!

In the Japanese dollar store found two new bento for a dollar each!!!

Loaded up on a few more bento tools, and rice molds. Just spent the day browsing through the city and all the small shops...

 

My bento was just a spin off of a previous bento, filled it with leaf wrapped steamed sticky rice, a pork bun (tossed in a few cherry tomatoes) , cheese and crackers, apple scraps form a day before, and a mini blue berry muffin.

Satsuma orange slices in there somewhere, along with a few candies.

Trying out some design on my huevos.

 

Simple lunch nothin fancy just a basic sandwich, with the left over rice/canned spicy tuna nigiri batch on the side. With the chick and katsup tossed in there.

 

Top tier is just snaky snacks for right after nappy time, just before circle time, and in between Silent Sustained Reading and recess....

Top Tier = apples apples and apples.

green apple shapes, and green apple cutouts filled with apple sauce, with a side compartment of sun dried apples!!!

also more chinese crackers, one mini blue berry muffin, with a Hawaiian chocolate from my sisters honeymoon in Hawaii!

 

Okay so I'm full aware that this is really really not like me, and I'm drawing some funny looks at work and getting taunted about how i "take pictcha's of ma food befo I eat it"... I dont care. I think this is great it makes me smile, and it would be worse blowin 10 to 18 bucks on lunch everyday just for being lazy and not setting aside 45 minutes each day to do this for my self.

This was a really tasty bento, the four chickens dumpling appetizers from trader Joe's (hiding under the sharp cheddar cheese cutouts) with nuked broccoli and mini tomatoes surrounding them, were the bomb. there is a little bottle of soy sauce (sweet and tangy) in there.

Next to the colorfull half of the bottom teir is chicken breast atop mashed potatoes toped with edamame to simulate water, or a moat...?

 

Top is full of fruit you can see the pinaple and kiwi, under those you got slices of satsuma oranes!

The compartments next door have dried banana, a mini blue berry muffin, chinese crackers two animal cookies and two round chocolate balls in foil wrappers.

 

Sofar I can the benefits of the bento on my health (mental and phisical) im not eating crap all day (for the most part) and if i do pack crap its controlled, more like under controll (like mitch head burgs tartar). We'll see after a month if im saving more or spending more.... im currious if its more costly as far as me chossing to buy more snacks or smaller more expensive stuff's vs. being more resoursfull and more creative with what i already had. also need to take into consideration how many bentos I want to buy, and other tools. I just need to implement an x-acto knife into my cooking supplies so I can get more creative with out spendin more on spesial toys.

Todays bento.

Simple, I used bits from the first two. Top tier sliced fresh bunanna's, mini orange slices. Next compartments just have scraps of apple and pear ( wit a wittle star on top) and two PB&J Hal's (one on top of the other) with a side of German chocolate (raspberry filling).

 

Ok now the bottom tier... say wut you will it's not wut it looks like.

I guess I'll call this a mexi-bento?

 

Refried beans on one side, and Chile Verde on the other side.

One side will clog your arteries! and the other will git you Montezuma's revenge!

 

Mabey I should have toos a few imdium capsules in on of the compartments!?

My second bento!

I call this one "Cooked Canned Spicy Tuna Nigiri"

The top tier has an Asian pear and an apple with the cores swapped from each middle.

Underneath the slices are a few berry's (which leaked everywhere on the way to work)

compartments have dried banana chips/unsalted peanuts/ and wheat thins(same as the first bento)

 

Now the bottom tier just has molded rice with spicy tuna filling(cholula sauce)!

 

The doughy thing is a really cool find, its Russian, and its filled with a really tasty meat mix. Cooked in boiling water with a touch of E.V.O.O. a Basil leaf, and a pinch o salt.

 

I need to get better at not running for the train with my bento in my backpack, the pics have been great but sofar, when i get to work, it looks like i made a trail mix bento =o(

So here goes, first post, first bento. Nuthing fancy but hey, for an arthritic old man....this is like a frggin Picasso. Hope to get more tool's/toy's so I can get more creative/elaborate.

Of course me being me, my dream bento would be a bloody fight scene, or a scene of an accident. something like that but made comedic...
